Every now and then, I accidentally disappear.

Not emotionally.

Just... into something.

A question.

A paragraph.

A tiny animation that absolutely nobody would notice if it were missing.

Six hours later, I've moved a button twelve pixels, forgotten lunch, and replied to approximately zero messages.

People call it hyperfocus.

I call it a surprisingly affordable vacation.

The destination changes every time.

Today it's code.

Tomorrow it might be why people use birch wood to start fires, why the palms along the Burning Palms track look burnt but never seem to turn to ash, why oboes have so many keys, or why bakeries in Europe make everything so impossibly crispy.

...Actually, why don't they turn to ash?

The feeling is always the same.

Time quietly leaves the room before I do.
